Kick Off the Weekend With These Safety Tips
Super Bowl Watch Parties are filled with lots of football, food, and drinks. SWANA wants to give you the pregame safety coverage to help you avoid any penalties.
- Pace yourself, don’t drink too fast – get enough to eat, take breaks, and hydrate.
- Tipsy driving is drunk driving. A night of sleep does not necessarily give you enough time to process and eliminate alcohol in your system. A cold shower or coffee will not speed the sobering up process, only time will.
- Designate a sober driver, call a cab, Uber, Lyft – the possibilities are endless.
- Find another place to stay if you cannot get home safely.
- Get plenty of sleep. Drowsy driving is as dangerous as drunk driving.
- Most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep a day. Up to 6,000 fatal crashes occur each year that may be caused by drowsy drivers.
- Buckle Up! If you are the designated driver, always buckle up yourself and your passengers!
- Keep in mind your work-related responsibilities… America has not made Monday a holiday yet!
- Know when it is time to leave and go to bed if you know you have to get up early the next morning.
